Newly Painted Hutch

Well, here it is, my newly painted red hutch. It looks so much better to me in person than in these pictures. Reds come out weird in pics sometimes. I like how it turned out, but will like it better when I get some pewter to display in it. The last two pictures are after I decided to go back and sand some edges. I like it better after doing that. I also plan on buying these Presidential portraits to hang in this room. It will look very Colonial~ just the way I like it!

Should I Paint It ?

I am having trouble deciding what I should do about painting my hutch in my dining room. I have already painted my dining chairs black and plan on painting the pedestal of the table black and restaining the top of the table a darker stain. I was thinking of painting the hutch black and the inside paneling a dark red with lot's of distressing~ maybe with some black showing through. Or maybe a more neutral tan or pewter color instead of the red. I'd like it to be more primitive looking. I know it will be a big job sanding it and painting, but I think I would love it ! What do you think I should do ? If you think I should paint it, then what color ? I don't think I want it to totally match the table~ I like the mismatched look. Oh and by the way my plan is to fill it with pewter like the first cabinet you see below. I added some pictures of cabinets that I like.

I love the red on the inside of this one!

Here is a picture from The Country Junction Blog. I always loved the furniture they had. I love the red one with the dark tan color on the inside.

I love this black with a little red showing through.

Paige's Birthday Party

For Paige's 12th birthday she wanted to have a Halloween Costume party with just a few friends on our street. We had fun decorating and making our cupcake Jack~O~Lantern cake. It was a cute and simple cake to do. My mom found this beautiful queen costume for Paige and sent it to her in time for the party. I thought that all the kids looked cute in their costumes. They all watched Halloweentown and played the Wii. Then it was time for cake. Paige bent down to blow out the candles and as I was taking the picture I noticed that her hair looked like it was hanging into the flames of the candles. I looked up from my camera to tell her to pull her hair back , but it was already on fire. I quickly grabbed her hair with my hand and put it out. Thank goodness it wasn't worse than it was. Only a few hairs were burnt. her hair is so long and thick that I can't even tell. It sure smelled awful though ! So that added to the party excitement ! It was a fun and simple party and now I'm ready for bed. I'm planning to work on my scarecrow to put in my outside display tomorrow and make one or two more Jasper's tomorrow. Good Night !
