St. Louis Here We Come !

Tomorrow we leave for St. Louis for a 2 week visit. We spent the day packing and getting ready to go. We're so excited to see everyone ! We have lot's planned ~ birthdays, fall party, pool party, prim shopping, movies, botanical gardens, and whatever else we decide to do. After Grandma and Patriot pick us up at the airport everyone will head over to Grandma's for a shrimp fest . Sounds yummy ! We miss living there by everyone, but are glad that we aren't to far to be able to visit every few months. Only 5 years left in the military and we can move back. I probably won't be posting any pictures for the next 2 weeks, but will have plenty to share when we get home. :-)

Goodwill Firkin

I found this little firkin at Goodwill yesterday for $1.99. It was painted dark green with blue, pink, and yellow roses painted on it. It reminded me of the tray I got at the antique mall last week. I like it now that it's painted. I love finding little treasures like that ! I put it on my computer/school table in my living room with some green picks in it.

Stencil in My Living Room

I got my new stencil in the mail this morning and started painting right away.I'm not sure what to think about it. I think I like it, but I thought it would be a little smaller when I ordered it. Maybe I just need to get used to it. I bought the stencil from Stencil Me In. Here are some pics~

Window and Shutters

I've been moving some things around the past couple of days. I have always wanted to have a good spot to put my window with my shutters on each side. The shutters have been out back in the garden for the past couple months. I just had no good place for them, but after rearranging I had the perfect spot in the entry way of my bedroom. I really like it ~ it fills up the long wall and makes it cozy ( I love cozy :-) )

Thunderbirds Over Our House

Today was the airshow at Offutt AFB. We decided not to go on base to see it. We've seen so many air shows before and didn't want to deal with the crowds. We are close enough to the base to see some of the show, so we sat out front to watch . The Thunderbirds are so fun to watch! I caught them on video going right over our house. :-)

New Tray , Ladle, and Rolling Pin

The kids and I went to Brass Armadillo Antique Mall this morning. I found this tray for $8. It was hunter green with some fruit painted on it. I painted it as soon as I got home and it's perfect for my table. Now I'd like to replace the pears in the bowl with some gourds or something for fall. I also love the old ladle and rolling pin I bought. I don't have a great spot for the rolling pin yet. The black plate hanging in my kitchen was a Christmas plate with a snowman on it . I was tired of it, soI painted it black and stenciled a pineapple on it.

My New Fall Blog

I bought this neat template for my blog and it wouldn't work with this layout that I use. I would have lost all the links that I have posted on this blog so far. I decided to create a new blog with the template I bought to use just for everything to do with fall. I think it would be fun for everyone that reads my blog to email me pictures of your fall decor or any other fall finds or ideas. I will post them on my special Fall Prim Blog for everyone to see. Here is the new blog link http://cozycoopsprimfall.blogspot.com/ Keep checking in on it and hopefully we'll have fall pics on there soon !

Trick or Treat Sign

Paige and I were in a fall mood today and decided to go look at what fall things Michael's had out so far. There were the usual cute Halloween decorations and lot's of florals. I found this cute sign for $6.99 that I thought would work with my prim decor. I hung it in my kitchen. I had no plans to decorate for fall at all. I just put 2 pumpkins on the tray below the sign and I will go ahead and leave that out. I won't do all my decorating until mid September after we get back from Illinois. I also stopped and smelled all the candles at Michael's and was surprised at how yummy and strong they smelled. They were only $5.99 for the large jar, so I bought the Pumpkin Spice. I have it lit and so far it smells really good. There were two others that I liked ~ orange clove and spiced apple. I think I might go back in a couple weeks and get the orange clove. Now I'm really ready for fall y'all! :-)

$8 Dresser

Yesterday on the way home from grocery shopping I saw a yard sale sign in our neighborhood. I drove by to just see what they had . I saw this dresser and thought it would be the perfect size to use as a side table in my room. The drawers were painted bright royal blue and the rest of it was a very bright green. It must have been in a kids room. I wish I had taken a before picture. It was nice and sturdy and $8 was a good enough price. I have an almost full can of our cream wall color paint for touch ups. I used that to paint it and then antiqued it . I ran to Target and picked up some $2 drawer pulls. I ended up getting the bottom one a little off from the others, but oh well. I think it works great and was a good deal ! I moved the table that I had by the bed over next to the TV cabinet for the other lamp to sit on.

Yard Sale in the Country

I looked up yard sales for our area this morning and found one not far from our house that said ~ items for sale that have been sitting in a 100 yr. old barn. We headed over there around 9:30. We drove down a long dirt road and came to a couple of neat old barns and farmhouses. I guess the sale had been going on since yesterday. I wonder what neat stuff they sold the first day. I found this old milk box that was full of cobwebs and needed some cleaning up. It was $10 and I thought it was neat. That was all I bought there. Then we stopped at Goodwill on the way home. I found a candle box/ holder for .99 It was a medium wood stain. I figured I could paint it and it would look pretty neat. I came home and went out back to paint. The old milk box was a very worn robins egg blue ( it was kind of pretty, but wouldn't work in my house ). I painted everything black today. I even finished the rest of my dining room chairs. :-) Enough with the black! I need to come up with a new color to use next time Boy was I sweaty and tired when I got done and felt like I had spray paint all over me :-) ! Turned out great, though. I just picture that old milk box at fall and Christmas filled with floral picks or evergreens and maybe something cute and homespun tucked in there. For now my milk can will just sit on it. The candle in the candle holder was a green one a used at Christmas and it looked to shiny against the black. I brushed on some of my antiquing medium and rubbed a mixture of pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon all over it. A quick and easy way to prim a candle up. You could even used some spray adhesive, clear coat spray paint or anything that spices will stick to. That's all for today. I'm going to water my flowers out front and watch a movie with Paige. I think I'll have a tiny bowl of chocolate ice cream to. :-)
